Well, since my last part, there’s been a lot of nothing, and then there was the climate change bill. That was last Friday, and to put it bluntly, that entire week sucked. Basically, the bill puts limits on carbon emissions, if you want specifics, look it up, its bill number H.R. 2454. We received over 3,000 pieces of correspondence about the legislation that week, and guess who is in the process of answering them all? The good thing is that most of them were general support/opposition, so I only have to write about three letters. But still, it was miserable.
My first blog post
So I’ve been in DC for a little over two weeks, and this is my first blog post. Yes, its because I’m that lazy.
The first thing I want to do is introduce myself. My name is Tom Reeves, and I am a rising sophomore at the college. I haven’t declared my major yet, but I am considering Government with either a minor in finance or environmental policy. So, in other words, I have no idea where I’m going. I’m from the wonderful state of New Jersey, born and raised, but don’t hold that against me.
So, I’m working for Congressman Mike Michaud (ME-02). He’s a relitivly conservative democrat, and his district is the largest east of the Mississippi River. The office atmostphere is really laid back, and I’m having a lot of fun at work. I do all the busy work that has to get done, but either takes too much time or is too boring for a staffer to do. Even so, I am really looking foreward to the rest of the summer.
